Board of Health delays ruling on Crepes Tea House seating

Southwick Board of Health tables decision on Crepes Tea House gazebo seating, orders cease-and-desist letters for overdue permits. Steve Salvini, representing the restaurant, told the board its septic system is capped at 93 seats and that shifting 20 seats seasonally into an enclosed gazebo would not increase capacity, calling water use "close to a third" of design levels. Interim Health Director Kayleen Simons said a prior recommendation would keep those 20 seats counted separately from April through October rather than rotating freely, citing enforcement concerns.
The board reached no final recommendation ahead of the Planning Board's January 20 hearing. Simons also reported 59 permits processed and $8,115 in fees since late November, and the board unanimously approved sending cease-and-desist letters to food and tanning businesses that missed the January 1 renewal deadline, including one still reportedly serving food without a current permit.
