Lake Management Committee approves Hydrilla survey plan, minus one task.

Lake Management Committee · Meeting of May 28, 2026

SOUTHWICK — Lake Management Committee approves Hydrilla eDNA survey, minus one task pending risk review. Chair Dick Grannells led the vote to accept a $67,754 Stantec proposal for four-task Congamond Lake testing, funded by grant, but excluded task two involving dead Ballyhoo bait fish as a controlled DNA source until safety concerns are addressed. The unanimous vote follows Grannells's request to clarify risks with town water quality expert Ken Wagner.

Members also approved a Conservation Commission modification to 142 Berkshire Avenue reducing planned stone walls from two to one, resolved a fishing tournament noise complaint at the North Ramp, and completed a difficult May 18 removal of a truck sunk in more than five feet of muck in Middle Pond.
