SOUTHWICK — Lake Management Committee tightens winter-recreation rules, advances plant management plan. The committee voted unanimously to remove a plowing exception from the town's ice-vehicle bylaw and to expand penalties to include all costs of violations, moves prompted by town expenses from winter recreation events. The committee issued a Request for Proposal for aquatic plant and algae management covering 2026 through 2028, with responses due March 24 to Chief Executive Officer Nicole Parker and the Select Board.
A separate NRCS dredging and canal-clearing project could draw federal funding for 65 percent of costs, with the town responsible for the remaining 35 percent.
