Library board approves June 24 summer reading kickoff, addresses state aid shortfall.

Southwick Public Library Board of Trustees met to review April programming and address FY 2027 budget constraints. Director Lynn Blair reported 3,020 visitors and 5,369 circulated items in April, with 257 attendees at 22 programs. The Summer Reading Kick-off will be held June 24 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.
The town level-funded the FY 2027 materials budget at $95,075, avoiding a 10 percent cut but falling short of the 19 percent state aid requirement by approximately $2,000-$3,000, which the library will cover using state aid account savings. Blair will take leave from late May through September, with Assistant Director Heather Dunfee stepping into the role.
