Southwick's Open Space Land Management Committee embraces permanent subcommittee structure under Conservation Commission guidance. The committee, renamed from its prior informal status following separate February 2nd votes by Con Com and the Select Board, will manage town open space properties in perpetuity while also overseeing revision of the town's seven-year Open Space and Recreation Plan. Both bodies agreed to parallel governance models that function similarly in practice: the Conservation Commission favors expanding the permanent committee during revision cycles, while the Select Board prefers a separate ad hoc planning committee drawing core members from existing municipal boards and commissions.
The committee unanimously approved prior minutes and heard a presentation on a proposed dog park at 67 Hudson Drive, slated for donation to the town by the Friends of the Southwick Dog Park nonprofit in approximately 2.5 years.
