Open Space panel seeks clarity on dual-committee time commitment

Open Space Committees · Meeting of April 28, 2026

SOUTHWICK — Open Space Land Management Committee approves prior minutes, clarifies duties under new companion panel. Chair Conner Fleury, Vice Chair Phil Price, and Clerk Martha Kane reviewed documents for the newly established Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee and flagged confusion about whether membership in the OSLMC automatically requires ongoing service on the OSRPC; Fleury will seek clarification from Diane Gale. The committee warned that if the Land Conservation Assistance Grant funding through Pioneer Valley Planning Commission does not materialize, the town will lose eligibility for state grant programs including LAND, PARC, and LCWF.

Vice Chair Price refined the OSRP public survey, and the North Pond erosion-control project has been submitted to the state for a three-year implementation beginning this fall.
