SOUTHWICK — Planning Board approves tree removal on scenic road for utility work. The board unanimously granted written consent for the Department of Public Works and Eversource Energy to remove 72 shade trees larger than six inches in diameter along Klaus Anderson Road, a designated scenic road, within the public right-of-way at 15 feet on either side of a utility line. Fire Chief Richard Stefanowicz, participating via Zoom, raised concerns about fire lane access at a separate property; the Board proposed marking truck loading and fire lane areas with stripes and signage to maintain Fire Department Connection access.
In Master Plan Implementation Committee action, the Board voted unanimously to refer a tax incentive program proposal to the Board of Assessors and sent a Notice of Completion for a pending zoning enhancement item, citing the town's ongoing zoning modernization project.
