Southwick Historical Commission Reports Budget Loss, Holds Brief Meeting With No Votes
Southwick Historical Commission meets briefly, reports loss of anticipated budget funds.
SOUTHWICK -- May 5, 2026, Southwick Historical Commission meets briefly, reports loss of anticipated budget funds. The commission convened May 5 with sparse attendance and no formal votes, as Chair Joe Silver reported discretionary fund balances totaling roughly $722 across membership, travel, supplies, and outreach line items, alongside a separate fund carrying $11,279. Under old business, Silver confirmed the commission would not receive a funding allocation it had anticipated, including an additional $10,000 it had apparently been tracking. "We're not getting that money. They've had a budget. Never mind the extra $10,000. We're not getting that money. There's no money," Silver said. Members briefly discussed the state's overall budget environment as a contributing factor, but no alternative funding path was identified and no action was taken before the commission adjourned.
