Southwick Library Trustees Approve Minutes, Flag Fuel Budget Shortfall
SOUTHWICK — June 9, 2026 — Southwick Library trustees grappled with a near-depleted fuel budget and a trustee vacancy at their June 9 meeting. With roughly three weeks left in the fiscal year, the library's fuel line held only $768.30 after town accountant Laura transferred $350 from the electricity line to cover a shortfall, while the electricity line retained about $7,543. Library director told the five-member board — Chair Michael McMahon, Andrea Bugby, Heather Dunphy, Cindy Warner, and Tracy Meswar attending; Tammy Cefislam absent — that supply costs including $231 toner cartridges and $60 boxes of copy paper have risen 40 to 50 percent in three years, prompting vendor switches and in-house printing to stretch the information materials budget. The board also confirmed that trustee Kathy Fischbach will not return, leaving a one-year-term vacancy to be filled through a joint Select Board and trustees appointment process.
