Southwick Master Plan Panel Clears Eight Action Items at March Meeting

Southwick's Master Plan Implementation Committee cleared eight action items in a single session on March 4. The committee, comprising members Dave Spina, Norm Cheever, and Joshua Raymond attending remotely, voted unanimously on all ten motions of the evening, accepting completions across housing, transportation, economic development, and civic engagement chapters of the town's 2040 Master Plan. Accepted items included a new electronic town newsletter, police body-camera grant funding, a housing production plan submitted to the state Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, and a Community Development Block Grant application the town did not ultimately receive because Southwick was deemed too wealthy to qualify.

Members also noted that the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority is planning a regular bus route through town with a pickup location still to be decided. In procedural action, the committee adopted a new pathway allowing action items to be shifted out of frozen completion windows when unforeseen circumstances, such as a lead person falling ill, make the original deadline impossible to meet.
