SOUTHWICK — The Southwick Council on Aging sketched plans for a new monthly support group for widows, widowers and single seniors called "Solo Southwick Seniors," aimed at launching in early December. Member Elaine said she regularly fields calls from residents needing help after losing a spouse: "I have so many women that call me and say, Elaine, do you know an electrician?" The board also accepted its September 2026 minutes by roll call and reviewed plans for a December 15 Christmas party, tentatively at the Brass Rail, with pricing targeted near $10 a person. Member Carol Laughlin reported the Brown Bag food program is steady at about 30 bags per distribution.
Members noted senior center classes will be suspended from October 19 through October 30 and the building will close entirely on November 3 for town voting, prompting one member to say, "I don't think it's fair for the seniors."
