Southwick zoning board preps two cases for Jan. 26 hearing
Other Committee · Meeting of January 12, 2026
Southwick Zoning Board of Appeals sorts two cases ahead of a January 26 hearing, with one likely bounced to the Planning Board. Members determined a 116 North Lake application to replace a nonconforming garage sits on a 4,791-square-foot lot, more than 200 square feet under the town's 5,000-square-foot minimum, concluding "he doesn't even meet the minimum to even do anything on the lot without a planning board." The board plans to recommend the applicant withdraw and refile with the Planning Board rather than vote the case down, and one member said he will recuse because the property owner previously worked with his real estate company. On a second case, a proposed carport and second-story bedroom at 10 Iroquois Drive, members favored a 17-foot setback, saying "I think 15 foot is fair to accomplish what you don't have available, and there isn't much choice." The board approved its prior minutes and adjourned, both unanimously; no votes were taken on either zoning case.
