Select Board Appoints Dozens to Town Boards
Southwick Select Board approved more than 20 board and committee appointments and renewed a weights and measures pact with Westfield.
Select Board · Meeting of August 3, 2026
Southwick Select Board approved more than 20 board and committee appointments and renewed a weights and measures pact with Westfield. Chair Doug Moglin, Vice Chair Russ Anderson and Clerk Joseph Deedy filled seats on the Agricultural Commission, Conservation Commission, Council on Aging and a dozen other bodies, several by 3-0 roll calls. The board raised the annual Weights and Measures Intermunicipal Agreement fee to $10,000, up roughly $2,000, for a renewable five-year term.
Resident Beth Lalli pressed the board on the scope of the Whip City Fiber pilot after voters rejected a $16 million bond, asking "does it commit the town to beyond the pilot?" Officials said the $90-per-month, three-area pilot carries no obligation to expand without a future town meeting vote. The board tabled the town accountant's contract renewal, citing missing performance evaluations, and acknowledged a $335,268.89 payroll warrant before entering executive session.
