Select Board · Meeting of August 17, 2026

SOUTHWICK — The Southwick Select Board awarded a $213,018 paving contract to Palmer Paving for the Gargon Terrace project and tabled a vote on creating a nine-member Green Energy Bylaw Committee. Town Planner Alvin Allen pitched the committee to address battery energy storage zoning ahead of an October state permitting deadline, but Vice-Chair Russ Anderson worried it would "get slowed right down." The board voted 2-0-1 to approve a one-day liquor license for the Southwick Rotary's August 29 concert, with Joseph Deedy abstaining, and appointed Deedy to the Master Plan Implementation Committee by the same 2-0-1 margin. Members also revised an accountant's employment contract 3-0 and reaffirmed a renegotiated, lower-cost weights-and-measures agreement with Westfield.

Chair Doug Moglin said the board would pursue a code of conduct after resident Deborah Herath criticized "disrespectful" emails between two elected board chairs.
