Southwick Conservation Commission Approves South Loomis Subdivision Stormwater Plan With $15,000 Bond

SOUTHWICK — June 1, 2026 — Southwick Conservation Commission unanimously approved a stormwater management plan for a four-lot subdivision at 6 South Loomis Street, setting a $15,000 performance bond. Philippe Cravo of Arlevec Associates presented a two-bioretention-basin design that had completed a full peer-review cycle with consultant Tyenban; commissioners raised the bond above the standard $10,000 level citing the scope of the infrastructure, with one member saying that amount "doesn't go a long way anymore." The order of conditions requires monumentation along the 50-foot wetland buffer and mandates that individual lot owners file separate Notices of Intent before undertaking any construction within jurisdictional areas. The commission also issued unanimous negative determinations for a dry-laid stone wall at 28 Depot Street, hazardous tree removal at 14 Breaker Drive, and a phased habitat restoration plan at the North Pond Conservation Area, and voted to appoint John Cotter as erosion control monitor for a separate tree-clearing project at 7 South Lawnyard Road.
