Southwick OKs Office Project, Opens Wetland Case
Conservation · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Southwick Conservation Commission approves a new plumbing-office building and takes over enforcement of a Sam West Road wetland violation. Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve a 2,400-square-foot office at 591 College Highway with a $25,000 bond, and separately voted unanimously to handle, locally rather than through MassDEP, an enforcement case against Robert Reed at 13 Sam West Road, where a site visit found wetland fill and tree clearing. "This has been in existence for decades," Reed told the board.
The commission also released $70,000 in bonds, $10,000 at 2 Fenton Drive and $60,000 at 13 North Pond Road, the latter pending riprap repairs, and heard Economic Development Committee member Greg Deily pitch a rail trail connector to the town center that could draw a state grant of up to $1 million. "It's one of the lower hanging fruit because we are very late to the game," Deily said.
