Southwick Panel Re-elects Officers, Moves to Thursdays
Other Committee · Meeting of September 2, 2026
Southwick master plan panel re-elects officers, moves meetings to Thursdays. The Master Plan Implementation Committee voted unanimously to keep Norm Cheever as chair, elect Dave Spina vice chair and Diane Gale secretary, and shift its regular meeting from Wednesdays to the first Thursday of each month through December. Members accepted completion of two Economic Development Commission items, a local business database and a website sourcing update, and voted to split a Lake Management Committee item after concluding dredging Canal Brook and Great Brook "does not appear to be" a sufficient fix for lake levels.
The panel also agreed to grade town boards only on completed action items rather than penalize four groups, including the School Committee and Community Preservation Committee, for not submitting next-year commitments. "I don't feel that we liaison well enough to make it happen," Cheever said of the ratings debate. A tracking document showed the Planning Board has completed four of 31 assigned items, with 26 remaining.
