Lake Panel Updates Boathouse, Dredging Plans
Other Committee · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Southwick's Lake Management Committee paused its $90,000 boathouse project in favor of more fundraising, while the police chief sent a shoreline boundary dispute to the state. A committee representative named Michelle said members wanted to protect funds for treating a fourth newly found invasive weed before committing to the boathouse, estimated at $90,000 by builder Hometown Structures. "By no means is the project for the boathouse dead," she said, noting a golf tournament was expected to raise about $3,500 and the group's board voted to invest reserves more aggressively.
Separately, member Norm Cheever said he researched whether the state treats the high-water or low-water mark as the property boundary at King's Beach, after police counted roughly 40 boats there on Labor Day; the chief forwarded conflicting findings to officials in Boston for a final ruling. The committee also approved its prior minutes and adjourned unanimously at 7:20 p.m.
