Zoning Board Approves Plumbing Shop Variances
Other Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Southwick zoning board grants two variances for a new plumbing shop on Route 202. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously to approve a 9,175-square-foot lot area variance and a frontage variance, rounded up to 7 feet, for SG Plumbing and Heating, owned by Steve Brushette, at 591 College Highway. One member recused himself, citing a long-standing business relationship with Brushette.
Engineer Rob Levesque of Levesque Associates said the new 2,400-square-foot building would be "a pretty light traffic generator," with six employees and room to grow to about ten. A public commenter representing Interstate Building Supply called the site "a nightmare spot, a beautiful spot" but raised traffic concerns, citing about 15,000 vehicles a day on that stretch of Route 202, and said he would bring access suggestions to next week's Planning Board site plan review.
