SOUTHWICK — Board of Assessors shifts strategy, cancels Master Plan Committee to fund business tax incentives. The Board voted March 23 to cancel the Master Plan Committee line item in favor of implementing a tax incentive program for existing businesses, following Director of Assessment Randall Austin's presentation on Tax Increment Financing. During public comment, residents Greg Deily and Beth Lalli urged improved Board transparency: Deily called for correction of what he characterized as inaccurate Facebook posts, while Lalli asked for clearer public explanation of how property values are assessed for state Department of Revenue certification.
