Planning Board refers zoning modernization project to Select Board

Southwick Planning Board voted to advance zoning modernization addressing top resident priority. The Board voted unanimously to refer the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission's comprehensive zoning bylaw update to the Select Board for a public hearing, following a town survey that ranked housing options and affordability as residents' top priority. In related action, the Board voted unanimously to initiate a subcommittee process to update bylaws governing large-scale photovoltaic systems to include battery energy storage systems, with participation from the Board of Health, Department of Public Works, Select Board, and Fire Department.
The Board also continued WGI, Inc.'s public hearing for a proposed 68,000 square foot aircraft engine parts manufacturing facility to August 11 and endorsed three property plans under subdivision control law.
