Southwick Cultural Council Plans 25th Anniversary Celebration and New Radio Play Series

SOUTHWICK — April 16, 2026 — Southwick Cultural Council finalizes art show plans and greenlights radio-play talks for fall 2026. Meeting April 16, the seven-member council — chaired by Cindy Warner — worked through volunteer scheduling for its upcoming annual art show, which this year marks the council's 25th anniversary, with a short PowerPoint presentation and a live musical performance by Steve Piper and Miles Reed planned for Sunday afternoon. A proposal to partner with the Southwick Public Library on a children's art project tied to the national 250th anniversary was declined by library trustees, prompting the council to plan its own coloring table instead. Warner reported meeting with Agawam playwright Michael "Buster" McMahon, who proposed staging old-time radio-style plays on a Friday evening, Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon in October 2026 at Town Hall, with a tentative fee of approximately $1,000 for three performances and a cast of 10 to 18. The council also learned it must purchase reception alcohol from an approved vendor list, directing a planned order of 14 bottles of wine and two cases of beer to Table and Vine in West Springfield.
