Southwick Cultural Council plans patriotic watercolor activity and art show for town's 250th anniversary. At the February 19 meeting, members voted to hold their art show jurying on Sunday, March 8, at 1:30 p.m., with about 10 artists already committed and a patriotic theme planned for the reception. Joe Dede of the Southwick Civic Fund briefed the council on the August 15 anniversary celebration, which includes a 2 p.m. parade from Griss Mill Plaza to Wally Park, four food trucks, live music, free rides for children, and fireworks, with roughly $20,000 still to be raised.
Council member Pauline agreed to lead a watercolor card-making station at the event, with a budget estimated at $250 to $300 for up to 50 participants, using pre-stamped patriotic designs potentially printed by town offices. The council also agreed to pursue a children's art project with the library to display at the art show, and Pauline committed to creating two raffle frames for the show's door prize.
